Admit it – downtown Pittsfield is pretty good looking! But after a long and snowy winter, there’s bound to be some dirt behind our ears. So let’s get together and spiff ourselves up, because we’re expecting summer guests. The annual Downtown Spring Cleanup Day is scheduled for Friday, May 5 from 1:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. We’re inviting you to form a team (matching outfits optional!) and to send a member of your group to check in with Downtown Pittsfield, Inc., located at 33 Dunham Mall, at 1:30 p.m. We’ll provide the garbage bags, but please try to round up your own rakes, brooms, gloves and any other supplies you think you’ll need to help Pittsfield look its best.
Please DO sweep sidewalks, and dispose of any cigarette butts or large pieces of trash you find. Please DO NOT rake up pine needles around tree bases or dump swept up dirt into cement planters. Sweep dirt and sand into the street, and leave your full trash bags near the curb for the City’s trash collectors to pick up.
You’re doing a great job – let other people know about it! Teams should take photos of themselves working hard, post them to Facebook with the tag @downtownpittsfield. All participants are invited to a get-together at 3:30 p.m. for food/refreshments and an awards ceremony. Location: Downtown Pittsfield, Inc., 33 Dunham Mall.
Note: All teams will be notified with their location assignments prior to the day of the event.
If you’re unable to attend Spring Cleanup Day during the hours listed above, don’t worry! Even an hour set aside in the morning or at night – to dust your storefront window or replace burnt out light bulbs – is a huge help!
